Burlesque Chair Dance
Burlesque Chair Dance TM is a franchise that is taking over the UK. Coco Monroe is an Isle of Wight Instructor with classes in Newport, Shanklin and Ventnor.
Every month you learn a fun and sexy routine to popular music. The dance moves are broken down into bitesize chunks, building up each week to completing the entire routine on week 4.
If you are looking for a fun way to stay fit, flexible and strong, this is the answer. Plus, you will be dancing with likeminded people who are friendly and welcoming with a social side too. We often celebrate birthdays and even go on trips together!
No experience is necessary, classes are suitable for complete beginners, and all ages (15+) and all genders are welcome. We are LGBTQ+ friendly and welcome pregnant women up to 6 months.
The feeling you get when you dance is phenomenal. As an instructor it has changed my life, and my dancers also report the same. You build up confidence, your posture changes, you get a spring in your step and your loved ones will see a difference in you. So come and join the classes that are taking the island by storm!
Love, Coco x

There are no props required but you can wear heels if you wish, linked below. *I will earn a small commission if you purchase.

You can be a total beginner and still be able to enjoy the class. I had a dancer who joined saying she can’t dance the Macarena and was convinced she wouldn’t be able to keep up. But because the moves are broken down into small chunks and taught slowly over a period of weeks, you would be surprised with what you can achieve. That aforementioned dancer is still dancing with me now, 2 years later!

If you purchase a 4 week course and happen to be unwell or on holiday during one of the weeks, you can attend 2 classes on another week. As long as the class falls within the course duration, you can attend another area in order to catch up. Please contact Coco to let her know you will be doing this so that you are not marked as absent.

We dance in ballet shoes and wear comfortable clothes like leggings and a vest top. Sometimes we use props, please see the props section below for links to useful items. You will also need a warm layer to put on for the cool down, like a hoody. Please also remember a bottle of water.

Absolutely not. Ultimately this is a dance fitness class. The photographs, and videos are optional. If you do not wish to be included in these, simply inform Coco in class and the videos can be shot at an angle so that you are not visible. We have lots of dancers who work in jobs where they prefer not to be on social media, and that is absolutely fine.

For those of you who would like to perform, we do so regularly throughout the year. Coco has two class performances per year, one in the summer, and one at Christmas. These are for the ladies to showcase what they can do for friends and family at local theatres and hotels. Coco also has a show team who perform professionally at events and parties. If you are keen to be involved, that is wonderful! If not, that is okay too, you can just enjoy dancing in class, there is no obligation.

I hear this a lot from newbies wanting to join, feeling that age old reluctance that they need to feel good about themselves before they allow themselves to come to class. Some ladies want to lose weight before joining, and some say they are not sexy enough to join. It makes me so sad to hear. They are missing the point entirely. Coming to class will elevate your spirits and self-confidence. It really helps with body confidence too, and you may find that you begin to love the body you are in, whether you lose weight or not! The routines are also sultry and sexy; dancing in this way will bring out your inner Goddess and you will begin to feel sexy as a result. Please don’t hold back, the fact that you are interested and want to be part of the class is all you need to feel to begin your Burlesque journey.

Burlesque Chair Dance is based on the art of tease. The routines are sexy and seductive. However we remain fully clothed at all times. Sometimes routines will include stripping, but often it is the removing of accessories not items of clothing.
